A World Designed For Men: The Gender Normalisation of Design

A research report on the gender normalisation of design in which I interviewed some women designers on the subject of equality and diversity in their practice.Born out of frustration of not being able to find a work placement in my second year, I realised that there could be other factors involved in my lack of success. After interviewing these women and learning some valuable advice about the design industry, it has become an ongoing mission of mine to research and explore ways in which we can improve the representation and visibility of women creatives, particularly within the spheres of music and film, where women are less likely to have their voices heard over their male counterparts.
